I'm a little late on this one...but as they say, better late than never. Back in April, Toronto producer Obuxum dropped a six track instrumental project Titled, H.E.R. A lot of producers these days are trying to catch the same wave that everyone else seems to be riding on, reproducing the same sound over and over again. When you first listen to this project, it becomes obvious that Obuxum is in a league of her own, creating a sound that stands out boldly in comparison to the rest of todays soundscape. Obuxum shows a wide range of versatility with her production chops, proving track after track that she is one of the premiere beat makers in Canada. Obuxum transitions between electronic, hip hop and dance breaks effortlessly, creating an sonic journey with endless replay value. It would be an understatement to say that H.E.R bends genres; any beat junkie out there would love to know what kind of records Obuxum has in her collection to fully understand some of these eclectic influences. Obuxum has been shaking up the industry with notable festival performances at Wavelength Festival, Kazoo! Fest, Electric Eclectics, and Venus Fest. NOW Magazine also gave praise to the producer, including her in their list of Toronto electronic musicians to watch in 2018. Be sure to check out the latest offering from Obuxum, and share your thoughts with us.
